Hope fades for finding tsunami survivors

~Police say nearly 3,676 people are confirmed dead, with more than 7,500 still missing
~World Vision says the rescue and recovery has been the most difficult in the World due to the issues with the Fukushima nuclear plant
~More than 200,000 people have been evacuated from a 20-kilometer radius around the plant
~there have also been numerous aftershocks, but no additional tsunami warnings
~5 days since the tsunami search and rescue teams continue to look for survivors
~Some villages report nearly half of their residents unaccounted for
~Japan’s biggest broadcaster (NHK) is saying 7,500 missing and death toll to be around 10,000
~Half a million people are in evacuation centers
~after 96 hours a man in his 20’s was pulled from under rubble in the Miyagi prefecture
~A team from Australia has been operating in Minamisanriku where rain and snow are adding to the hardship of their task
~they have been looking for 36 hours and have not found any survivors
~Here the water went up to 30 meters, the assumption is that anyone below that mark are dead
~basic items (like blankets) are a priority
~15,000 people have been rescued, large numbers of people are still unaccounted for
~24,000 people are still completely isolated in about 80 locations
